Calling all Saints, Sinners, Priests, Nuns and Inner Demons. Your time is almost here.
Through the Looking Glass Wednesdays are held at 9 p.m. in the Crystal Bay Casino’s Red Room. Each week there is a theme. Costumes are encouraged and rewarded. The event’s “brainchild” is Trevor Jensen and the Food and Beverage staff. “People like to dress up around here,” Jensen observed.
The music-playing hosts are Kandy Xander, the frontwoman for Metal Echo, and Dennis Alexander of Mr. D DJ Services and 101.5 Truckee Tahoe Radio’s “Deep Traxx.”
“We’re playing music associated with the theme,” Xander said. “We’re pulling from all different kinds of music so we can appeal to all kinds of people.”
The numerous video screens will play a movie that goes with the scene. “Baywatch” played during a Fun In The Sun, Midwinter Beach Party night.
“Please approach Miss Kandy with requests. She doesn’t bite,” Alexander said. “It’s not our gig. It’s the people’s gig.”
Alexander encourages service industry folks to stop by to decompress after work. There are $3 shots, $5 cocktails and a $25 bar tab to the costumed patron who receives the most playing cards from the hosts.
Through The Looking Glass Wednesdays will be held through April 11. If successful, the event will be extended.
