A few hundred tickets remain on sale for tonight’s concert headlined by Brad Paisley in the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys.

The show starts at 6 p.m. Lee Brice is scheduled to go onstage at 6:30 p.m. Chris Young, back on the tour after a dangerously close call with an infected leg, plays at 7:30 p.m. Southern rocker Paisley is slated to play at 8:40 p.m.

While smoke from the Rim fire led to the cancellation of the first week of high school football in Northern Nevada, the air quality has improved the last two days in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Paisley’s tour is called “Beat This Summer,” also is the name of his 21st No. 1 single on Billboard’s country charts. According to a member of Paisley’s road crew, it took 11 18-wheelers to deliver to Tahoe all of the stage equipment.

Earlier this year Paisley and LL Cool J recorded a song, “Accidental Racist,” which stirred controversy and inspired a parody by Steven Colbert.

The most eventful stop on the tour was Aug. 22 in Mountain View. John Fogerty came onstage with Paisley and sang “Hot Rod Heart.” During the encore, Fogerty came back for the songs “Centerfield,” “Alcohol” and “Proud Mary.”

Moreover, Aug. 22 was the night Young returned to the tour which he left Aug. 13, taken by an ambulance to a Denver hospital. He underwent surgery the next day to remove the infection.

“It was an ingrown hair,” he told Washington, D.C. radio station WMZQ. “It was something that I thought got out and was fine. It wasn’t anything weird like, it wasn’t like I was having any pain in my leg or anything. It’s scary. Like I said, I left Nashville and was fine. Three-and-half hours later, I felt like absolute crap.”

Young, whose grandfather was part of the “Louisiana Hayride” radio show which first brought fame to Elvis Presley, got his start by winning the singing competition “Nashville Star” on the USA Network. He signed with RCA Records and has had 5 No. 1 songs. His next album, “A.M.,” will be released Sept. 17.

Brice, who had a football scholarship as a long snapper at Clemson, is a songwriter who has become an onstage star as well. He co-wrote singles with Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Adam Gregory and the Eli Young Band.

Brice’s “Love Like Crazy” spent a record 56 weeks on the Billboard’s Hot Country Chart. His 2012 song “A Woman Like You” was a No. 1 single, its video graphically revealing the distasteful cuisine of bachelor: Top Ramen and frozen chicken.
