Altruistic Forte Awards will go to region’s top acts

Grand Sierra Resort
The inaugural Forte’ Awards will be in November at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno.

The Forte Awards want you to join the party.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls … the Forte Awards sponsors are taking registrations now, and it’s free.

Briefly put, the Forte Awards is a celebration of the Reno/Tahoe area’s performing artists in music, theater, comedy and dance. If you are part of this talented circle, get yourself registered, so you can become a nominee, and hopefully win it all.

“Are you ready to be recognized?”

The Forte Awards will culminate with a huge ceremony at the Grand Sierra Resort in November. It will be a full-on Academy Awards/Grammy-style event, complete with paparazzi wall, velvet ropes, media interviews, and much more. The ceremony is being planned for the grandest theater of them all, the Grand Theatre, right here in Reno. Nominees will be treated with Forte awardsthe much earned respect deserved and will be identified by custom-made back stage laminates identifying them as participants. They will be treated as celebrities as they walk the red carpet into the theater.

The full resources of this really grand location will be utilized for the ceremony, including giant screens above the stage to display nominees’ images and category information, plus the lighting and sound systems. The entire event will be recorded by multiple cameras for eventual production on DVD. The video production team will consist of eight cameras, some of which will be moving around the theater.

There will be a celebrity Master of Ceremonies to handle the evening’s program. Many local and regional celebrities from the worlds of entertainment, media, and politics will act as award presenters. Forte’ Award recipients will be brought to the stage to accept their awards and speak to the audience while their pictures are displayed on the screens over the stage. As with all celebrations of this caliber, there also will be entertainment during the show.

The Forte Awards also is a charity event for the benefit of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, the Nevada Humane Society and the Veterans Resource Centers of America.

“In the beginning…”

There are 45 categories (click here) for which to register. Artists can register as individuals, or as a band, and they also can register for more than one category. Registrants will submit requested information including photographs, videos, and audio uploads, and various links to more content that is available (not everybody will have everything suggested, and that’s fine).

All performing artists in the Reno / Tahoe area are encouraged to register for one or more of the 45 award categories listed on the Forte’ website. Information submitted by all registrants will then be vetted by local area experts to choose the most worthy candidates to move up the ladder and become the 2016 Forte’ Awards Nominees.

When the nominations have been decided upon and announced on  Aug. 8 the voting will begin. From here on it will be up to the public (i.e. friends, family and fans) to pick who they want to become the Forte Award Recipients. All nominees should campaign for themselves and get their friends, family and fans to vote for them on the Forte’ Awards website. Work it right, and you’ll take home a Forte Award.

To aid the public in deciding who they want to vote for, the Forte Awards site will post a nominee’s selected link to their website, Facebook page or other preferred link. The link can contain performance schedules as well as videos and songs. This exposure will be a valuable tool for getting people to your gigs, earning votes and making long new lasting fans.

Also, currently in the planning phase are two promotional partnerships. One is the presence of the Forte Awards at the nonprofit group 39 North’s Thursday Night Marketplace. The plan being developed is to brand their stage outside of the Great Basin Brewery and the Victorian Amphitheater with the Forte’ Awards logo and feature local artist registrants on those stages every Thursday. For Artown, Forte Awards is working on a presence at the Friday night Rollin’ On The River free concerts at Wingfield Amphitheater with a booth and banner to bring awareness to the event and the nominees.
