Tuesday Night Winter Blues new times are 7:30-11:30 at Center Stage on the casino floor at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe.

The seven-week show hosted by the Buddy Emmer Blues Band features a guest artist each night. People are catching on to the free, midweek performance. The largest crowd to date watched Chuck Dunn on Feb. 25, the fourth Tuesday Night Winter Blues.

This Tuesday, March 4, Matty “T” Traynton returns to Tahoe onstage to perform with Buddy and his crew. Reno’s Rick Hammond, fresh off a semifinal finish at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, will be at Harrah’s March 11. New Orleans keyboardist John Lee Sanders plays on March 18. The guest artists for March 25 has not been announced.

Depending on the response, Tuesday Night Winter Blues could continue, or perhaps have a hiatus until summertime.

“Locals are talking about this hot new entertainment offering at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe,” Director of Entertainment John Packer wrote in a press statement. “So head to Stateline on Tuesday nights and enjoy some roof poppin’, red hot Blues music, free at Casino Center Stage.”

Taynton is a veteran bluesman from Vacaville and the owner of Tweed Hut Music who perhaps had the most fiery of the Tuesday night jams on Feb. 18. The show was so good, Emmer called him back for an encore.

Taynton discovered the blues when he was 10 years old. His friend Juan Alderete’s older brother had a Jimi Hendrix record collection, and both of the younger boys were inspired. Alderete became a rock star, playing bass with Racer X and the Mars Volta.

At the age of 14, Taynton began to play the guitar. He said he has an aggressive style and cited influences as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robin Trower, Buddy Buy and Freddie King.

He was nominated for Guitar Player of the Year by the Bay Area Blues Society and has played all of the festivals in the area. He has developed a following at Palms Playhouse in Winters, Calif., a mini-Fillmore auditorium frequented by Tommy Castro, Roy Rogers and Walter Trout, a pretty impressive trio of gunslingers.
