Comedy show in Carson City: Will Durst finds the funny with Baby Boomers

Hope I die before I get … opps. Too late.

The Baby Boomer generation has indeed gotten old. Just ask Will Durst.

The standup comedian from San Francisco on Friday, May 15 will present “BoomeRaging – From LSD to OMG!” The performance will be in the Carson Nugget at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.

“It’s a survey of what we Boomers went through and what we’re going through now, and then I end on a heartfelt, uplifting note,” Durst told Tahoe Onstage. “We discourage children under the age of 40 from attending unless accompanied by a guardian because I use archaic technology like an overhead projector, and sometimes that freaks the kids out. They get nervous and disquieted.”

Durst will discuss “Racing From The Shadow Of A Mushroom Cloud,”  “The Blinking VCR,” “Still Doing Drugs, Only Now There’s a Co- Pay” and “The Brightsides of Extreme Adulthood.”

“I call us extreme adults because we have to rebrand ourselves because elderly senior citizens winding down their golden years, that doesn’t cut it,” Durst said.

Durst writes a weekly column which appears in Tahoe Onstage.

Most of Durst’s recent appearances in Tahoe have been about politics, which have become absurd, even for a political satirist.

“I am trying to find a way to lampoon this but it’s almost unlampoonable,” he lamented. “You can’t make a parody out of a parody.”
