Another encore Bluesdays performance for Chris Cain

Chris Cain has played Bluesdays at Squaw Valley more than anyone.

A curtain call is the ultimate compliment for an artist. San Jose’s Chris Cain has been invited back to Squaw Valley’s Bluesdays more than anyone. He’s a virtuoso guitarist with a baritone voice that reminds concertgoers of B.B. Kin. He attended a B.B. King concert when he was just 3 years old and it must have made quite an impression. You can hear King’s influence in everything he plays. “I think he should be known way more than he is now,” said fellow bluesman Dennis Jones. “He should be a household name just like Albert (King) and the rest of those guys. He’s magic, a true blues player.” Cain studied jazz, which he taught at San Jose City College, and was a professional player before turning 18. His recording career began in 1987. He also plays piano, bass, clarinet and saxophone. Bluesdays The Village at Squaw Valley 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays Aug. 14: Chris Cain Aug. 21: Terry Hanck Aug. 28: Coco Montoya Sept. 4: Cedric Burnside Project

So,
so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Did they get you to trade
your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
