Photographer’s notebook: Much to everyone’s delight, Ron Hacker, who fell ill a few weeks ago moments before appearing in Tahoe onstage, performed May 20 at Harrah’s Tuesday Night Spring Blues with the Buddy Emmer Blues Band. Ron’s music is blues in its purist form. He has played with his trio Ron Hacker and the Hacksaws at the Saloon for more than three decades. His songs start like a freight train you hear coming in the distance, and it just builds and builds and you just can’t help but take notice. With the low tone of Ron’s voice, he growls out the lyrics in a style all his own. His slide guitar technique that he uses on an old acoustic guitar is amazing to see and hear. Once again backed up by one of the best blues bands in the area, there wasn’t an empty seat for the show, except for when everybody gave a standing ovation!— Kurt E. Johnson, Tahoe OnstageEditor’s note:Ron Thompson is the guest artist May 27 for the final Tuesday Night Spring Blues at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. The show is from 8 p.m. to midnight. The weekly blues jam is expected to resume on Monday nights in July.
