The aspens are gold and red and there’s a chill in the air. It’s time for the Dead Winter Carpenters to gather their tools and get to work.

The Tahoe City-based Americana band was on the opposite side of the lake on Saturday, playing for the first time at Stateline’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s Vinyl showroom. It was the first concert presented by a new venue, Bluebird Loft.

DWC hasn’t had much time off this year. It’s building a fan base in the East, recently playing in New Jersey, the new home of bass player Dave Lockhart. In November, it will have shows in Pennsylvania, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. And last week it was announced the local heroes will open for Leftover Salmon on Dec. 30 in the Crystal Bay Casino.

Nick Swimley plays guitar and drummer Brendan Smith is the newest member. The band released its third studio album, “Washoe,” in 2016.

“We just got out of the studio and are firing on all cylinders,” Dunn said before the show. “This’ll be our first show at Vinyl, and we’re chomping at the bit to get back to South Lake!”

This was intended to be the opening show for The Bluebird Loft, also at Stateline, Nevada. “It’s still happening but it’s just taking longer due to unforeseen circumstances with the remodel,” promoter Ryan Kronenberg said. “It’s 80 percent completed but we have to wait until health, Douglas Counting Planning and the TRPA says yes.”

The show scheduled on Nov. 5 with The New Mastersounds and Kung Fu also will be held in Hard Rock. On Nov. 10, steel guitar superstar Roosevelt Collier will perform at the South Shore’s

Kronenberg announced to more shows. Melvin Seals and the JGB will appear Dec. 2 in MontBleu’s Blu Nightclub. Tickets for the  9 p.m. show are $25 in advance or $30 on the day of the show. The Scott Pemberton Band will play on New Year’s Eve. The venue has not been determined.
