Old Dominion heads to Tahoe July 17 with new record

Old Dominion will appear at Harveys Lake Tahoe on July 17.

Old Dominion’s new self-titled album leads with the track “One Man Band,” while its home page cover photo shows five guys squeezed onto an old-school couch. The country music band is headed to Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys on Friday, July 17.

Tickets — $49-50 to $99.50 — go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31 at Ticketmaster.com and APEConcerts.com.

Los Angles pop artist Andy Grammer will open the show, touring on his new album “Naive.”

It’s the third date announced for Harveys’ 2020 Summer Concert, as Kenny Chesney and Michael Franti & Spearhead will team up July 2-3 at Lake Tahoe.

Formed in Nashville, Old Dominion is Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Whit Sellers, Geoff Sprung and Brad Tursi. The band’s music is contemporary country with pop and rock licks.

Back when Matthew Ramsey was a teenager, and falling increasingly ever more in love with music, nothing was so exciting to the blossoming singer-songwriter as hanging in a garage with his buddies and jamming out until a fully fleshed song revealed itself.

“That was just such an amazing feeling,” the Old Dominion frontman recalls with childlike wonderment. That feeling continues today.

“It’s so incredible be able to sit in your room with your instruments and your bandmates and feel that chemistry and follow it wherever it goes,” he notes.

Since breaking onto the country music scene in 2014, Old Dominion — recognized as the Group of the Year at the both the 2018 and 2019 ACM Awards and the reigning CMA Vocal Group of the Year — have notched seven No. 1 tunes at country radio, surpassed one billion on-demand streams, with singles “No Such Thing As A Broken Heart” and “Written in the Sand” earning Platinum certifications and “Hotel Key” earning a Gold from their Gold certified sophomore album “Happy Endings.”

Their self-titled album marks new beginning for Old Dominion, with songs such as “Make It Sweet,” “Smooth Sailing” and “Never Be Sorry.”
