The WinterWonderGrass forecast calls for an abundantly clear alchemy and squalls from Billy Strings. Bluegrass lovers in the Squaw Valley region are advised to prepare for the March 29-31. Tickets are on sale now.

Headliners for the fifth annual event include Greensky Bluegrass, Trampled by Turtles, Leftover Salmon, the Sam Bush Band and Billy Strings, 26, who will play at each of the festival’s three stages in his WWW Tahoe debut.

The announcement coincides with a pair of free Caravan to WonderGrass events featuring Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon and his son Silas Herman from Gipsy Moon. The first Caravan to WonderGrass will be held at the Alibi Brewing Public House in Truckee Wednesday, Oct. 10, followed by another show at the Stone House in Nevada City on Thursday, Oct. 11. The free events will feature live music, festival ticket and merchandise giveaways and specials on beer and cider.

The rest of the WinterWonderGrass lineup: ALO, Fruition, the Travelin’ McCourys, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, Dead Winter Carpenters, Jeff Austin Band, Lindsay Lou, Upstate, Driftwood, Pickin’ on the Dead and Pixie and the Partygrass Boys. Additional artists include: Vince and Silas Herman, One Grass, Two Grass, Bridget Law and Friends, Jenni and Jesse Dunn with Local Company and the Jack Cloonan Band. Artists at large include Andy Thorn and Tyler Grant.

“From the moment we arrived in Tahoe, we felt the magnetism of this special piece of earth. The alchemy was abundantly clear in the way that bluegrass, the High Sierra, Lake Tahoe, spirited locals and an amphitheater of trees would create magic. It’s an absolute honor to celebrate five 5 years in Squaw Valley and we look forward to turning it up just a notch in honor of this special gathering” said Scotty Stoughton, founder at WinterWonderGrass.

WinterWonderGrass also is held in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and this year, for the first time in Stratton, Vermont.

Three-day general admission tickets start at $179 and VIP three-day tickets start at $329 for a limited time. Select two-mountain tickets, Coast-to-Coast (all three resorts) and single/two-day tickets are available for purchase as well. All three-day festival tickets include a reusable commemorative festival mug. Additional information can be found at www.winterwondergrass.com.

WinterWonderGrass is committed to aligning with communities, artists and partners who share the focused commitment to sustainability, philanthropic endeavors and the roots of mountain culture. Since its inception, WinterWonderGrass has contributed $100K to local environmental groups, youth education programs, as well as local and global humanitarian causes.

Greensky Bluegrass releases a studio album on Jan. 18, “All For Money.” Its winter tour, also announced today, will share shows with Billy Strings and Circles Around The Sun. It will play at the Crystal Bay Casino on Wednesday, Nov. 7, along with Lil’ Smokies.

In a Facebook post, ALO said WinterWonderGrass would be its only North Shore/Grass Valley appearance of the year.
