Tim McGraw, Jefferson Airplane, Eric Burdon tickets sold Friday
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday for Harrah’s and Harveys shows featuring one of today’s biggest country stars and two iconic bands which have been famous since the 1960s.
Prices for Tim McGraw’s show July 16 in the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys range from $69.50 to $135. They will be sold at www.ticketmaster.com and www.apeconcerts.com. Presale for McGraw fan clubs and casino Total Rewards members began Wednesday.
Jefferson Starship will perform Sunday, May 26, Memorial weekend, in Harrah’s Lake Tahoe South Shore Room, Director of Entertainment John Packer announced Wednesday. It will be the first time bandleader Paul Kantner has played at the venue.
Eric Burdon and the Animals play the South Shore Room on Saturday, June 8. Like the McGraw show, tickets for Jefferson Airplane ($38.50) and Eric Burdon ($55) go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, April 19, at Ticketmaster as well as www.SouthShoreRoom.com.
Eight Summer Concert Series outdoor shows at Harveys have been scheduled, and traditionally there are 10-12
“We are hoping to get some more soon,” said Packer, who speculates Tuesday’s Outside Lands lineup announcement — http://lineup.sfoutsidelands.com/ — might bring an opportunity for Tahoe. (See Tahoe Onstage Video of the Day for lineup clip.)
Last year Norah Jones and Neil Young and Crazy Horse were added to the Summer Concert Series after those bands were booked to play Outside Lands at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Headliners for the Aug. 9-11 event are Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails and Phoenix.
Three of the eight Harveys shows are sold out, Phish on July 30-31 and Dave Matthews-Gary Clark Jr. on Sept. 4.
McGraw will perform on the Tuesday of celebrity golf week. Spectators watch practice rounds at Edgewood Tahoe on Tuesday and Wednesday, then there is a Celb-Am tourney on Thursday. Country acts Rascal Flatts and the Band Perry will perform at Harveys arena on Friday, July 19.
The 24th annual American Century Championship is July 19-21, and tickets for the golf event went on sale April 1.
The opening band for McGraw has not been named.
McGraw, who has 23 No. 1 Billboard singles and three Grammy Awards McGraw played at the venue in 2002, the first year of the modern era of the summer outdoor concert series, just after Harrah’s purchased Harveys.
McGraw last played here May 30, 2010, the earliest summer show in the series’ history. It rained and snowed on May 29 and 31.
“I remember wiping down chairs and hoping, but, actually, it turned out to be a beautiful day,” Packer said.
McGraw recently released “Two Lanes of Freedom,” and it was his 14th No. 1 album debut on Billboard’s country charts.
Married to country singer Faith Hill, McGraw appeared April 7 on the CBS broadcast of the 48th annual Academy of Country Music Awards.
