Paris Blohm breaks in Hard Rock Vinyl

It’s not yet spring but Bass Camp is in full Blohm.

Paris Blohm headlines Bass Camp’s first show inside the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in South Lake on Sunday, Feb. 15. Club Vinyl also will present myself, a.k.a. Roger That!, and Reno’s Vice Versa.

Paris Blohm calendarHailing from Los Angeles, the 23 year old has blasted off in the scene of progressive house/electro with remixes from huge names like Above & Beyond and Seven Lions and an arsenal of edit mashing up other mega dance music stars such as Eric Prydz and Krewella.

This headlining tour is in support of his newest track Demons. I found the tracks vocals to be something fresh in progressive house that has been coming out lately. Vocals are not from an angelic women, but are provided by a male voice featured simply as Charles and gives this track an almost progressive rock vibe. Packed with high energy electro slams, this track will be recognized and remembered when dropped this Sunday in Vinyl. Take a listen so you can prepare accordingly: LISTEN

I got to chat it up a bit via email with Paris about quitting his day job and what gives him the heebie geebies.

Q — Back in November you posted about quitting your day job and being able to do your music full time. Can you describe the way you told you employer and how it feels to be able to follow your dream full time now? What was your day job?

A — I was respectful about my employment (food delivery), since having even a simple job is a luxury for some.  They weren’t too happy about it though, so I had to leave earlier than the two weeks I gave … which made me realize that most people really don’t care about your dreams and aspirations, you have to take care of them yourself.  It was a weird start, but it made me even more confident in myself and knowing that it was up to me to make it happen. Following your dreams is definitely a rollercoaster, with many ups and downs, but makes every day exciting and fresh.

Q —  What music were you listening to growing up? Were you in a band or did your parents have a musical background? What began your venture in to dance music?

A — When I grew up I had my CD player and a ton of CDs I collected, whether they were burned from friends or many store bought.  I listened to a lot of rock ’n’ roll, and rap as a kid growing up in Los Angeles. But then I started listening to trance and other electronic forms, alongside all the other music I was listening to.  I always thought listening to one specific genre only is kind of weird.  So I’d listen to everything under the sun.  My brother was in a rock band and played guitar since he was 6, so I was always envious of him and his musical abilities.  Watching him grow as an artist made me really want to push into the music making field.

Q — If you had a crystal ball, what would it show you for dance music in 2015? What do you want it to show you for 2015? Anything music wise you can’t wait to hear this year?

To be honest, I have no idea where dance music is going. It’s doing its own thing, and I’m doing mine.  I’ve never followed trends, and I don’t really plan on it now.  I just want to keep making music that I’m happy with, and it’s a blessing to have people follow me for it.  I can’t wait to release these new tunes that I think are next level for me.

Q — What track gives you the “heebie geebies” every time you hear it?

A — Strobe by Deadmau5, hands down. STROBE

Q — Have you been to Tahoe before? Do have a message for us Tahoans about Sunday night’s show?

A — I have been to Tahoe, but not since I was really young.  Being from Los Angeles it’s not too far away, but I haven’t been able to experience much of it. I wish I was staying longer to hit the slopes.  To the Tahoans, I can’t wait to play for you.
