Y&T’s heavy metal comes to Cargo Concert Hall on Friday

Y&T plays Cargo Concert Hall on Friday, Aug. 25.

Y&T, the enduring heavy metal band from Oakland, headlines a show Friday night in the Cargo Concert Hall in the Whitney Peak Hotel.

Reno’s Greg Golden Band will open.

Original member Dave Meniketti, the lead singer and lead guitarist, continues to front Y&T. Ronnie James Dio once said, “Miniketti is one of the most underrated singers on the face of the earth.”

“The band always delivers and it has an iconic following,” Golden told Tahoe Onstage.
“It’s amazing how many Y&T fans there are.”

First called Yesterday and Today, the band influenced groups such at Metallica and Motley Crue. It has released 18 albums.

“We’re really looking forward to the show,” Golden said. “It’s an honor to share the stage with Y&T. We are going to play a 45-minute set of some of our best originals and absolute best covers. We are going to be rocking it.”
